Not Being Paid Salary For Months, Gurugram Man Allegedly Dies By Suicide Under Extreme Stress
The man, identified as Prem Chand, left a suicide note and video messages alleging he was under extreme stress as he hadn¡¯t been paid his salary for the past several months by the two contractors, police said.
In a tragic incident, a young man allegedly killed himself by consuming poison in Haryana¡¯s Gurugram near Sohna Chowk on Sunday evening, after he wasn't paid salary for several months.
Left suicide note, videos with tea seller
The man, identified as Prem Chand, left a suicide note and video messages alleging he was under extreme stress as he hadn¡¯t been paid his salary for the past several months by the two contractors, police said. He shared the videos with a tea seller and other persons. Traffic police officers at the spot took him to a Civil hospital and informed his family. By the time Prem¡¯s wife Meena reached the hospital, Prem had already died.
Son was harassed by contractors, alleges father
According to the police, the deceased was employed by two electricity contractors. Around 4 pm, he consumed poison near Sohna Chowk in Gurugram, following which traffic cops dashed him to a hospital, where he succumbed.
¡°For the last three years, he was not being paid by the contractors on time¡ He was disturbed due to financial problem and despite repeated requests, no one was paying him his salary. He left a suicide note in which he named the two contractors who had been harassing him,¡± the report quoted the victim¡¯s father Rohtas Singh as saying. Singh further alleged that two executives of a private firm had duped his son.
Four, including two contractors booked
Based on a complaint lodged by Singh, the two contractors and the two private firm executives have been booked under IPC sections 306 (abetment to suicide) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention), police said, adding that the case is being investigated.
Another incident
In another incident, a 50-year-old labourer ended his life by hanging himself from a tree in Hamirpur district in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday morning. Police said the labourer, Ramdas Savita, committed suicide as he was unable to clear loans he had taken for organising his daughter's wedding.
