In a video, the mother of one of the accused is heard saying "If my son is wrong, burn him the same way she was burnt. Isn't the victim also the daughter of a mother? I am suffering today, I can imagine what the girl's mother is going through."
The victim, a 27-year-old veterinary doctor from returning from Gachibowli after meeting a dermatologist. She had parked her two-wheeler near the Tondapalli Toll Plaza. The four accused who were drinking nearby spotted her getting down at the toll plaza and taking a cab. When she returned, the victim realized that one of the tyres of her scooter has been punctured.
One of the accused, who is believed to have punctured the tyre then approached her in the pretext of helping her and took her two-wheeler away. In the meantime, the victim called her younger sister and told her that she was tense as her bike was taken away by unknown persons for repair. Later when she was not able to reach her on the phone, the victim's sister went to the toll plaza, but could not find her.
She then went to file a complaint at the RGIA police station from where she was directed to go to Shamshabad police station. Only around 4 am on Wednesday the police began looking for her. The charred body of the victim, which was burnt beyond recognition was recovered in Shadnagar.
All the four accused, Mohammad Pasha, Jollu Shiva, Jollu Naveen, and Chintakunta Chennakeshavulu were arrested by the police the next day. While Pasha worked as lorry driver, the other three used to work as cleaners.
The family had alleged that the Cyberabad Police had failed to act on time on their complaint. On Saturday three police personnel were suspended on by the Cyberabad Police in connection with the incident Commissioner VC Sajjanar said the three have been placed under suspension till further orders for dereliction of duty.
The suspended officials were identified as Shamshabad police station Sub-inspector M Ravi Kumar, P Venugopal Reddy and A Sathyanarayana Goud, both head constables at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport Police Station.
