India Bids Farewell To Five CRPF Heroes Martyred In Jammu And Kashmir's Anantnag
Wreaths were laid on their coffins draped in the national flag in a ceremony in Srinagar as their colleagues bid them adieu. The five men identified as ASIs Neeru Sharma and Ramesh Kumar constables Santander MK Kushwaha and Mahesh Kumar were killed. Pakistan-based terror group Al Umar Mujahideen which was thought to be defunct has claimed responsibility.
Ceremonial tributes have been paid to five Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel who lost their lives in a terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag. Wreaths were laid on their coffins draped in the national flag in a ceremony in Srinagar as their colleagues bid them adieu.

The five men identified as ASIs Neeru Sharma and Ramesh Kumar, constables Santander, MK Kushwaha and Mahesh Kumar were killed when terrorists opened fire at CRPF personnel of 116 battalion stationed in a vehicle in the main market area of Anantnag in southern Kashmir.

Anantnag police station SHO Arshid Ahmad, who rushed to the spot along with the police party after hearing bullet shots, was also injured. He was shifted to hospital where he is undergoing treatment along with another woman.

Two terrorists were also gunned down by the security forces in the encounter which ensued.
Pakistan-based terror group Al Umar Mujahideen, which was thought to be defunct has claimed responsibility for the attack, the biggest since the terror attack in Pulwama in February which killed over 40 CRPF men.

The attack took place in KP Road, which is part of the Amarnath Yatra, which is set to start in a few weeks.
