India's Flag Unfurled 30 Km Above Earth In Space, Marks 75 Years Of Independence

The Indian national flag was unfurled 30 kms above Earth on Monday as the country marked its 75 years of Independence.
Space Kidz India, an organization that is known for promoting space science to children sent the Indian tricolor to the edge of the space and about 30 kilometers above the planet earth. It also describes itself as an aerospace organisation creating young scientists for the country.

The flag was sent to an altitude of 1,06,000 feet above the earth on a balloon that unfurled it. The campaign was part of the Har Ghar Tiranga, which was launched to celebrate the 75 years of India¡¯s independence, Business Today reported.

Space Kidz India had recently launched a satellite "AzaadiSat" built by 750 schoolgirls. But the satellite got placed in an unstable orbit and is not usable anymore, the Indian Space Research Organisation had said.

Meanwhile, Indian-American astronaut Raja Chari shared a photo of the Indian flag at the International Space Station (ISS).

Chari was among the four astronauts who splashed down in the Gulf of Mexico onboard a SpaceX aircraft earlier this year after spending nearly six months at the ISS.
