The foreign students are required to pay higher fee because the university doesn¡¯t take entrance exam for foreign students. Under foreign students¡¯ quota at the university, the course will cost Tasmida more than Rs 10 lakh.
Tasmida¡¯s brother Ali Johar told The New Indian Express that the fee for one year is about Rs 2.45 lakh.
¡°The fee for one year is USD 3,600 (about Rs 2.45 lakh). The university has offered her a scholarship but we will still be required to pay USD 3,100 (about Rs 2.13 lakh) every year. We can¡¯t even afford that,¡± said Ali Johar. Ali Johar is associated with Rohingya Human Rights Initiative (ROHRIngya). Ali said that through the crowd-sourcing campaign online, Rs 1.6 lakh has been ¡°but that won¡¯t be enough¡±.
¡°We might somehow be able to manage the fee for one year but won¡¯t have the resources to pay after that and she might have to withdraw,¡± Ali said. Ali also said that he would write to United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and other organisation to help with funds so that Tasmida can study the course she want to in the university of her dreams.
