India's upcoming wedding season, from November 12 to December 16, is set to generate nearly Rs 6 lakh crore in business with an expected 48 lakh weddings, marking a significant economic boost. This festive period highlights weddings as a major economic driver, with spending spanning a wide range of budgets across the country.
In India, weddings are monumental events where families often invest their life savings, and some even take loans to create a memorable celebration. Now, a new study by the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) reveals that the upcoming wedding season is expected to spark an economic boom, generating nearly Rs 6 lakh crore in business across the country.
The upcoming wedding season in India, stretching from November 12 to December 16, promises to be busier than ever.
Unlike last year¡¯s 11 auspicious wedding dates, this season offers 18, leading to an expected surge in celebrations.
According to a study by the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), this festive period will see around 48 lakh weddings across the country, generating a massive business turnover of nearly Rs 6 lakh crore¡ªa 41% jump from last year's Rs 4.25 lakh crore generated by 35 lakh weddings.
Delhi alone is projected to host about 4.5 lakh weddings, contributing an estimated Rs 1.5 lakh crore in business.
Following this bustling period, there will be a short break of about a month before the season resumes from mid-January to March 2025.
CAIT also breaks down the expected wedding expenses across various budget ranges: 10 lakh weddings are projected to have budgets of Rs 3 lakh each, another 10 lakh at Rs 6 lakh each, and another 10 lakh at Rs 10 lakh each.
Meanwhile, 10 lakh weddings will likely spend Rs 15 lakh each, 7 lakh weddings at Rs 25 lakh each, 50,000 weddings at Rs 50 lakh each, and 50,000 weddings with budgets reaching or exceeding Rs 1 crore each.
