India's Ultimate Obsession With 'Cow Urine'

Going by the obsession that our ministers, right-winged RSS, which supposedly runs our government, and other such groups, have for cow urine, the day is not far when cow urine could be declared our national drink, replacing ¡®videshi¡¯ drinks like Coke and Pepsi for instance.

We dread the day when children in schools will be given ¡®gua mutra¡¯ for digestion after being fed with sub-standard mid-day meals! Here are some pointers which will prove that the day is not far when we will have to buy ¡®gau jal¡¯ instead of mineral water from kiosks by the roadside:

Our ministers endorse it

Maneka Gandhi, Minister for Women and Child Development, wants ¡®Gaunyle¡¯ to be used as a cleansing liquid in her ministry instead of phenyl.

AYUSH minister Sripad Naik had vouched for the number of ayurvedic drug companies that were manufacturing medicinal formulations made from 'panchgavya', a collective name of five products obtained from cow including its urine and dung.

Earlier this month, while participating in a debate on the budget and pressing for stopping cow slaughter in Rajya Sabha, BJP MP Shankarbhai N said, "If you want to save yourself from cancer, there is a need to protect cows on a priority because cow urine is effective in curing cancer completely. It can cure cent per cent. I can vouch for it. Nobody wants to hear this".

Right-wing Hindu nationalist group VHP was one step ahead. It launched a whole range of beauty products made out of ¡®gau mutra¡¯ and cow dung to prove that cows were important and their urine useful!
