Inhumane! 'Disinfectant' Sprayed On Migrant Workers Who Returned To UP To 'Sanitise' Them
Migrant workers who returned to their homes from different cities were forced by district administration to "take bath" in groups with disinfectants before they were allowed to enter the district border.
The officials in Bareilly used sodium hypochlorite solution in UP, used to clean buses and other things.
According to the video footage making rounds on social media, men, women and children are seen squatting on the road near a checkpoint in Bareilly, as men in full protection gear spray disinfectant through a hose pipe on them. The migrants are fully-clothed and also have their luggage with them, over which the solution is sprayed.
In the video, one man is spraying the disinfectant on those workers, while the other one is shooting it asking workers to keep their eyes shut so that the solution doesn't enter their eyes.
Inhumane act! Are we humans?

Meanwhile, Samajwadi president Akhilesh Yadav targeted the Yogi Adityanath government over spraying a group of people with disinfectant to sanitise them.
"The spraying of chemicals on migrants to sanitise them has raised a few questions. Has the World Health Organisation given any direction in this regard? How do you treat the burning sensation caused by these chemicals? What arrangements are made for people to change out of wet clothes? What alternatives have been made for the food that gets wet due to spraying?," he tweeted.

The incident has caused massive furore on Twitter with people criticising the move and calling out the government for the "inhumane" treatment of their own people.

This is pathetic...#migrant workers being sprayed with #disinfectant in #Bareilly in #India. Did we treat those who arrived (with #Covid) by planes from abroad the same way? ?@sandeeprrao1991 @tinucherian @mathangcito @BalooET @ragkrishnan_ET @PhadnisShilpa @toi_ManujaV https://t.co/Zl6broWoF3
