Is India Getting Renamed? 'President Of Bharat' In G20 Dinner Invite Spark Rumours
Rashtrapati Bhawan has sent invites for a G20 dinner in the name of the President of Bharat instead of the usual President of India. Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh said the news is indeed true.
With the agenda of the special session of the Parliament later this month still being a mystery, new rumours suggest that the government may rename India to Bharat.
This has been fueled by an unusual move by the Rashtrapati Bhawan (President House), which sent out invites for a G20 dinner on September 9 in the name of the President of Bharat instead of the usual President of India.
India that was Bharat?
Reacting to the invite, Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh said, "So the news is indeed true. Rashtrapati Bhawan has sent out an invite for a G20 dinner on September 9 in the name of 'President of Bharat' instead of the usual 'President of India'."
"Now, Article 1 in the Constitution can read: 'Bharat, that was India, shall be a Union of States'. But now even this 'Union of States' is under assault," the Congress communication in charge said.
Mr. Modi can continue to distort history and divide India, that is Bharat, that is a Union of States. But we will not be deterred.

Singh questioned why Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Mohan Bhagwat have 'hate' for Bhim Rao Ambedkar, who was responsible for drafting the constitution.
"Babasaheb Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar wrote in the constitution--"India That Is Bharat". But Modi and RSS who hate Babasaheb want to change the constitution. Why do Bhagwat and Modi hate Babasaheb so much?" Sanjay Singh said in his post on 'X'.
Mohan Bhagwat's Bharat push
Recently, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat had said that people should use the name "Bharat" instead of India and urged people to inculcate the habit.
"The name of our country has been Bharat for ages. Whatever may be the language, the name remains the same," Bhagwat had said at an event in Assam.
India vs Bharat
It should be noted that recently, after the opposition alliance named itself INDIA, many BJP leaders had been emphasising the Bharat moniker.

BJP Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Bansal also pitched the proposal during the recently concluded monsoon session in the Upper House, saying that the name 'India' is a symbol of "colonial slavery" and "should be removed from the Constitution".
"The British changed Bharat's name to India. Under Article 1, the Constitution states: 'India, that is Bharat'. Our country has been known by the name 'Bharat' for thousands of years ... it is this country's ancient name and is found in ancient Sanskrit texts. The name 'India' was given by the colonial Raj and is thus a symbol of slavery. The name India should be removed from the Constitution," he had said.
