The PFI has been in the eye of the law enforcement and intelligence agencies for some time now for its alleged roles in religious conversions and promoting extremist ideology among Muslim youths.
PFI activists were also behind the 2010 attack on TJ Joseph, a college professor for allegedly insulting Prophet Muhammad.
The police revelation also comes days after the arrest of five suspected ISIS recruiters from Kannur. The ringleader of the recruitment is said to be a 52-year old man identified as UK Hamsa or 'Taliban' Hamsa.

It was not immediately clear whether the youths were recruited by the group linked to Hamsa. According to the National Investigation Agency, nearly a 100 Indians, many of them from Kerala have left India to join ISIS.
