Karnataka School Converts Land Into Farms After Teachers Take Up Odd Jobs To Survive Pandemic
The Shantiniketan Central School in Kadur taluk in Chikmagalur district of Karnataka has converted open areas of close to two-and-a-half acres into farms. The school teachers and staff are in financial distress following the coronavirus pandemic and are making ends meet by doing menial jobs.

The school management and the teachers are using the premises to grow flowers, beans, brinjal and chilli, according to a report by The Hindu.
The school teachers and staff are in financial distress following the coronavirus pandemic and are making ends meet by doing menial jobs.
Not just the teachers, but the private schools are also struggling to stay afloat. They are not able to collect school fees and have decided to convert the premises into farmland.
Some private schools in the rural areas are still waiting for some kind of financial assistance from the government. Management of these schools said that the government has not provided them with any kind of aid for teachers or housekeeping staff. Schools are also being used to dry fish.
In Tamil Nadu, some schools have taken up organic farming by putting the playgrounds to use and to have a steady flow of income due to the same.
