'King Of Mysuru' Yaduveer Wadiyar To Make His Electoral Debut In Lok Sabha Polls
Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar will contest the election from the Mysore Lok Sabha seat. He will replace two-term MP Pratap Simha, who had courted controversy.
The BJP on Wednesday released its second list of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.
Among the 72 candidates named in the second list was Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar who will contest the election from the Mysore Lok Sabha seat.

He will replace two-term MP Pratap Simha, who had courted controversy after it emerged that the Lok Sabha security breach accused had entered the Parliament with visitor passes issued on his recommendation.
King of Mysuru to contest election
This will be the electoral debut of Yaduveer Wadiyar, but he is no stranger to power.
That is because the 31-year-old is the current 'King' of Mysuru.

Who is Yaduveer Wadiyar
As the scion Wadiyar dynasty, the erstwhile Mysuru royal family, Yaduveer Wadiyar still holds the title of 'king' though his 'powers' have been limited to ceremonial roles.
The 31-year-old US-educated Yaduveer was crowned as the titular head of the on May 28, 2015, making him the 27th 'King' of Mysuru.
Born as Yaduveer Gopal Raj Urs, he was adopted by Pramoda Devi Wadiyar, the widow of Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar, the last descendant of the Wadiyar dynasty as they did not have any children.
After this, he was rechristened as Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar.
He is married to Trishika Kumari Wadiyar, who hails from the Dungarpur Royal Family in Rajasthan. Trishika's father Harshavardhan Singh was a BJP Rajya Sabha MP.

Wadiyar Dynasty's deep-rooted connection with Mysuru
Even today, the Wadiyar dynasty which ruled Mysuru since the 1300s enjoys widespread support among the people of the area.
The famed Mysore Dasara festival was started in 1610 by the then-ruler Raja Wadiyar and even this day the Wadiyar family is an integral part of it.

The center of the Mysore Dasara is the Mysuru Palace, the seat of power of the Wadiyar dynasty.
Not the first Mysuru royal to contest elections
Yaduveer, however, is not the first member of the Mysuru royal family to make a democratic transition.
The previous scion, Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar, represented the Mysore Parliamentary constituency four times between 1984 and 1999.
