Kulbhushan Jadhav Isn't The First, Here Are 5 Indians Who Were Arrested By Pakistan For 'Spying'
Spies or not, we'll never know.
Former Indian naval officer, Kulbhushan Yadav, who was arrested in Pakistan last year, has been sentenced to death by Pakistani officials. In light of this, here are other prisoners who fell into the hands of Pakistani authorities.

1. Sarabjit Singh
Probably the most famous case of an Indian caught in Pakistan, thanks to his sister who fought tooth and nail for his return. Sarabjit spent 22 years in jail in Pakistan after he apparently accidentally crossed over to the other side in an inebriated state. He was arrested at the Kasur border in 1990.

2. Vinod Sawhney

The 61-year-old was sent to Pakistan in 1977, and was arrested the same year. Sawhney spent 11 years in jail, before being returned to India in March 1988. After his release, he revealed his identity as a Research & Analysis Wing (RAW) agent, which is an exception.

3. Fl. Lt. Kambampati Nachiketa

He was a Flight Lieutenant in 1999 and was fighting in the Kargil War when his jet¡¯s engine failed. He was captured by the Pakistan side after he ejected from his jet and was kept as a Prisoner of War. He was tortured for eight days before being handed back to India on June 3, 1999.
4. Kirpal Singh

Originally from Gurdaspur, he spent almost 25 years in Kot Lakhpat after being charged with spying on Pakistan. In 1992, it was alleged that he crossed over to Pakistan unintentionally. Kirpal was arrested and sentenced to death for being a partaker in a bomb blast case in Pakistan¡¯s Punjab. But, he was later acquitted of these charges.
5. Chamel Singh

In 2008, he was arrested and charged with espionage in Pakistan. His family contested against accusations that he was spying in Pakistan and instead said he had simply gone missing from his fields. Chamel died in 2013 after apparently being tortured in Kot Lakhpat jail.
