Lalu Prasad Yadav To Face Criminal Charges In Fodder Scam, Rules Supreme Court
In a big blow to Lalu Prasad Yadav, the Supreme Court today ruled that the RJD chief and others accused in the Rs 900-crore fodder scam will face separate trials for each case.
The apex court has set aside High Court¡¯s order stating that the entire conspiracy in the fodde scam was one and that Lalu cannot be separately tried for each illegal treasury withdrawal.

Lalu will now be tried for criminal conspiracy under section 420 of the Indian Penal Code.
The court has ordered that the trial must be completed in 9 months.
The charges are in connection with the case pertaining to fraudulent withdrawal of Rs. 96 lakh during Yadav's chief ministerial tenure.
The fodder scam relates to fraudulent withdrawal of around Rs. 1,000 crore by the Animal Husbandry department from various districts when Lalu was the Bihar chief minister from 1990 to 1997.
