The coronavirus lockdown has been particularly hard on migrants who are struggling to reach their home after being stuck in outside cities. Many are waiting in shelter homes and looking for a chance to get back to their families.
There is a saying that laughter is the best medicine and two sisters, Sheetal and Khushboo, have come up with an unique way to cheer them up and make the mood lighter in the midst of all this anxiety.
According to a report in News18, they are visiting shelter homes dressed as clowns.
¡°If staying at home we can be so unhappy or so sad and stressed, then their level of stress must be very high,¡± said Sheetal, a medical clown and counsellor. Khushboo is an activist.
"I don¡¯t think I am very scared catching the infection, I am more scared of: ¡®What if I am not able to make them laugh?¡¯¡± she added.
¡°I could see the pain in their eyes and it was difficult to process,¡± she told The New Indian Express.
¡°The experiences have been mixed. Seeing people participate, smile and laugh did bring joy to the clowns as well. Some babas sang and danced, children sang rhymes, played along, women danced and giggled, while at the men¡¯s shelter one of them sang beautifully,¡± she explained.
Hopefully they have been able to put a smile on those faces. By their own admission it has not been easy and Sheetal confesses that she does not have it in her to visit the homes anymore.
Be as it may, they have their bit as India continues to fight the coronavirus pandemic.
