The Kerala State Lottery Department on Sunday announced the results of the Onam Bumper 2022 at 2 pm. The first prize of the bumper lottery was ?25 crore. An auto driver from Sreevaraham, 30, in Thiruvananthapuram has won this year's Onam bumper lottery.
Anoop, who won the lottery on Saturday, was planning to go to Malaysia to work as a chef. Interestingly, he won just a day after his application for a loan of ?3 lakh was approved.

This year's Onam bumper offered the highest prize money of ?25 crores. Anoop had purchased the lucky ticket from Bhagavathy Agency on Saturday night. As per the Kerala lottery, Anoop will get ?15 crores 75 lakhs rupees after tax deduction.

¡°Initially, I could not believe it and asked my wife to double-check. My god, my number TJ -750605 won the first prize,¡± K Anoop, a resident of Sreevaraham in the capital, said, adding that he bought the ticket on Saturday night from the lottery stalls of one of his relatives near the Pazhavangadi Ganapati temple in the city.
This year's second prize of ?5 crore will go to the owner of the ticket -- TG 270912. In addition to that, 10 others have won a prize of ?1 crore each.
The winning number was selected by state Finance Minister K N Balagopal in a lucky draw function held earlier in the day at Gorky Bhavan.

67 lakhs Onam bumper tickets were printed this year and almost all tickets were sold out. 500 rupees was the ticket price. The lottery is one of the main sources of Income for the Kerala government. Thankaraj, the lottery agent who sold the ticket will also get the commission.
Incidentally, last year's Onam bumper lottery, for ? 12 crore, was also won by an auto-rickshaw driver. Jayapalan P R, an auto-rickshaw driver from Maradu near Kochi, won the lottery last year.
