Madhya Pradesh Man Seeking Wife Puts Up Biodata Hoarding On E-Rickshaw
Deependra Rathore, a resident of Madhya Pradesh's Damoh, is driving an e-rickshaw in the town. The biodata has details including Rathore's age, height, weight, blood group, caste, educational qualification and a photo of him.
Finding someone to get married to is not easy, especially in Indian states where men heavily outnumber women.
But a man from Madhya Pradesh has taken an unconventional approach to find himself a bride.
Matrimonial biodata on e-rickshaw
Deependra Rathore, a resident of Madhya Pradesh's Damoh, is driving an e-rickshaw in the town, with a hoarding of his 'biodata' displayed on it.
The biodata has details including Rathore's age, height, weight, blood group, caste, educational qualification, and a photo of him.
Shortage of women
The biodata even mentions that the prospective bride's religion or caste will not be an issue for the marriage.
In a video that has gone viral on social media, the 29-year-old said he took the unconventional step after failing to find a bride, due to a ¡°shortage of women in society¡±.
According to Rathore, initially, he had joined a ¡°marriage¡± group to seek a bride but it didn¡¯t help much.
That is when he came up with the idea of the biodata hoarding.
In the video, Rathore is heard saying that his parents have supported his unique approach to finding a life partner.
When asked about it, Rathore said that he was open to marrying someone from outside Damoh.
Sex ratio in Madhya Pradesh
According to the 2011 census, Madhya Pradesh has a sex ratio of 931 females for every 1000 males, which is below the national average of 940.
This 'shortage' of women of marriageable age group along with several other factors like poverty and droughts in many areas have meant that many young men in the state are not able to find a bride.
Desperate attempts to find wives
This has also resulted in young women even being abducted for marriage.
NCRB data from 2021 had shown that as many as 1341 women were kidnapped with the intent that they may be compelled to marry, of these 1263 were under 18 years of age.
