In a shocking incident, a COVID-19 patient in Madhya Pradesh lost his life after a ward boy removed his oxygen support.
The incident was reported from the Shivpuri district hospital in Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday night.
What happened?
According to the family of the deceased, identified as Surendra Sharma, he was recovering well in the past few days and he had even started eating food on Tuesday, but on Wednesday morning they were told that he had died.
"My father was having a breathing problem. His condition was not good and he was given oxygen support. But last night, the hospital staff removed his oxygen supply. When I reached here, I requested the staff including a nurse to give him the oxygen but they denied and that is why he lost his life," said Deepak Tiwari, the son of the deceased.
The hospital had initially denied the family's allegations that Sharma died due to the lack of oxygen.
"The deceased was a dialysis patient and his hemoglobin had dropped. We will check CCTV footage and look into the allegations leveled by family" Arjun Lal Sharma, CMHO had said.

It is still unclear why the oxygen supply was removed.
According to the CMHO, a team of three doctors has been formed and they will submit the report within 48 hours. After that further action will be taken.
"There is no crisis in oxygen in our hospital. Still, we will look into the matter and guilty will be punished definitely, " the CMHO said.
Madhya Pradesh, like the rest of the country, is seeing an increase in the number of COIVD-19 infections, which is putting a strain on the hospitals.
