From Madhya Pradesh to Karnataka, Kerala and Haryana, six states that celebrate formation day on November 1
Andhra Pradesh was the first linguistically formed state in India. It was created through the States Reorganisation Act of 1956, under which the state of Hyderabad was split up, and its Telugu-speaking districts became part of Andhra Pradesh on November 1, 1956.
Six Indian states are celebrating their formation day on Friday, November 1. These are Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Karnataka, Kerala, and Madhya Pradesh. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday greeted the people on their states' formation day. In posts on X, Modi highlighted various features of these states as he extended his wishes to the people living there.
Andhra Pradesh
Andhra Pradesh was the first linguistically formed state in India. It was created through the States Reorganisation Act of 1956, under which the state of Hyderabad was split up, and its Telugu-speaking districts became part of Andhra Pradesh on November 1, 1956.
Karnataka
Karnataka was also formed on a linguistic basis on November 1, 1956, and comprised Kannada-speaking populations spread across the State of Mysore, Hyderabad, and the Madras Presidency. The state was originally called Mysore but was renamed Karnataka in 1973. In Karnataka, the state formation day is celebrated as Karnataka Rajyotsava.

Kerala
The state of Kerala was formed on 1 November 1956 under the States Reorganisation Act, merging Malabar, Travancore, and Cochin based on the common language spoken in the area ¨C Malayalam. In Kerala, the formation day is known as 'Keralappiravi'.

Madhya Pradesh
Madhya Pradesh came into existence on 1 November 1956 following the reorganisation of states. It was created by merging the erstwhile Madhya Pradesh, Madhya Bharat, Vindhya Pradesh, and Bhopal states.

Haryana
Haryana was formed on November 1, 1966, as the seventeenth state of India, under the Punjab Reorganisation Act passed by Parliament to reorganise the state of Punjab and create two new states ¨C Punjab and Haryana.
Chhattisgarh
Chhattisgarh was carved out of Madhya Pradesh on 1 November 2000 with its 16 Chhattisgarhi-speaking districts. In Chhattisgarh, the day is celebrated as Chhattisgarh Rajyotsava.
