Man Books First Business Class Tickets For Parents, His Twitter Thread Wins Hearts
Gaurav shared the problems Indian women face while travelling long hours. "I still remember when I was a kid, I used to be confused about why my mom barely drank any water during our 16-24 hour bumpy bus rides between Pune & Indore. While I guzzled water like anything. Only after growing up did I realize why many Indian women have to do that," he tweeted.
A man shared how he booked business class tickets for his parents in a Twitter thread. The man, who is originally from India and living in the US, shared a post on the micro-blogging site about booking business class flight tickets for his parents.
"Feeling extra grown up"
Gaurav Sabnis, an associate professor living in the US, wrote, "First time booking business class tickets for parents to visit us here from India. Feeling extra grown up. Finally able to afford a flight in which parents can stretch out and sleep. Mom dad were still like "kharcha kashala ugich" but I put my foot down."

Feeling extra grown up.
Finally able to afford a flight in which parents can stretch out and sleep. Mom dad were still like "kharcha kashala ugich" but I put my foot down. ??
"Especially excited for Mom"
Gaurav shared how his mom finds joy in the smallest things in life.
He said, "I'm especially excited for Mom to experience a long haul international business class 777 journey for the first time. She finds joy in the smallest things in life. She's gonna be like an excited kid when she lands. Dad will be like, 'Bed. Good. Wake me up in New York.'"

Dad will be like, "Bed. Good. Wake me up in New York ?"
"Mom is a hardened traveler"
"Mom is a hardened traveler. Dad is a retd highway bridge engineer. So from her 20s, she has done all kinds of rough, bumpy, even dangerous journeys, often with us 2 kids in tow, with a smile on her face. So she finds even economy class air travel full of things to be happy about," he added.

As a dude, whenever the bus stopped (just twice or 3 times), I could and can just run to the nearest secluded corner and pee. My mom, like any woman, doesn't have that luxury in India. And absolutely didn't in the 80s & 90s when things were even worse toilets wise on highways.

"Been waiting to have her experience business class travel"
He recalled his mother's first visit to the US 15 years ago. Gaurav added, "As soon as I posted the tweet, I was thinking 'small joy???' Yeah, big joy for sure."
First time mom visited US (almost 15 years ago!) she loved how we could take any random exit off the highway, go to any random gas station & the toilet was still generally clean usable safe. So she could drink water whenever she liked.

Small joys.
So I've been wanting to have her experience business class travel for a couple of years.
¡ª Gaurav Sabnis (@gauravsabnis) May 17, 2022
Original plan was for me to fly over for her birthday in April 2020, then bring her & dad back with me biz class. So I could also participate in her joy.
But y'all know April 2020.
Netizens' hearts are full
Needless to say, the Twitter thread has gone viral on social media. The post has received over 1,700 likes on Twitter and it has warmed the hearts of thousands of netizens. Here's what they said:
An extra hug to you. I don't know what kharcha kashala ugich means but I can imagine it's universal parentspeak for what's the need to spend so much money. ? You're a good man Sabnis. We give back to the people who gave us their lives.

This thread made my day! That love, that joy, that feeling when you do something 'big' for your parents is precious. And then to sit down next to them and hear them talk about it or typically not talk about it!

Beautiful. Felt like my parents were traveling in business class. Small joys are often sacrificed for big ones. Thanks for sharing.
