Earnings up to Rs 1.5 lakh per month
Binita now earns up to Rs 1.5 lakh per month through mushroom farming and cultivation. Not just that, her mushroom farming is big enough to employ as many as ten locals. However, the pandemic hit her business hard and she had to reduce the number of staff to two but her family members pitched in to keep the business going.
"We grow six mushroom varieties & make pickles, chips for selling. During peak season, we earn around Rs 1.5 lakh a month. We also teach people about mushroom cultivation," said Binita.
The current mushroom production facilities of Binita Mushroom Centre includes six rooms with one cold storage, two solar dryers, noodle making machine, bagging machine, chaff cutter and humidifier.
Binita says she spends only Rs 50 on mushroom cultivation in poly bags and it includes the price of straw, mushroom seeds, medicines and labour charge.
She says 3,000 polybags of mushroom in a month can generate a profit of more than one lakh in a month.
