Aldrin took to Facebook to write about his employer who refused to support him during the 21-day nationwide lockdown period that has been imposed by the Central Government in an attempt to control the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.
He also wrote that he had been a thief in Shillong and decided to leave the city in search of a better life.

His last wish was that his body be brought back home to Shillong for burial. After much effort the police here were able to trace his "foster parents'' since his own parents are both dead. The foster parents are not in a position to fly his body back home, hence Chief Secretary, Govt of Meghalaya arranged for his body to be brought to Meghalaya House Delhi where he will then be given a decent burial. All domestic and international flights are currently grounded due to the lockdown.
Many migrant workers were stranded with little money after the nationwide lockdown was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
States have been asked to build shelters and provide food and accommodation to stranded workers.
