Several houses near the banks of Dhauliganga river in Reni village were washed away.
Chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat said, "The Rishiganga project in Rini village of Chamoli may have been damaged due to heavy rains and sudden gush of water. There is also a possibility of flooding in the lower areas of Alaknanda. People residing near the river have been alerted and removed from the area."
More than 150 people feared dead
As many as 150 people are feared to be dead in the flash flood in Uttarakhand's Chamoli following an avalanche near a power project at Raini village.

"100-150 casualties feared in the flash flood in Chamoli district, said Uttarakhand Chief Secretary OM Prakash told ANI.
Representatives of the power project have told me that they are unable to contact around 150 of their workmen at the project site.
The extent of damage can only be ascertained after some more time.
ITBP, NDRF teams rushed to Uttarakhand
Teams of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police and the National Disaster Response Force were rushed to flood-hit areas.

An ITBP officer said two teams of the force, comprising about 200 personnel, had moved to the affected areas from Joshimath.
The border guarding force has units based in Joshimath as part of its mandate to guard the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China.?
As news of the disaster came in, two teams were rushed from Dehradun to Joshimath, NDRF Director General S N Pradhan added.
Rishiganga Power Project has been damaged due breach of a glacier in the Tapovan area. People living on the bank of the Alaknanda river are advised to move to safe places at the earliest, said Chamoli Police.
