No COVID Case Reported From This Odisha Village Since Pandemic Began In 2020
Karanjara village in Danapur panchayat in the district of Ganjam has not reported even one COVID case since the pandemic broke out in 2020.
In the midst of the COVID pandemic, a village in Odisha is proving to be the model for the state. Karanjara village in Danapur panchayat of Khalikote block in the district of Ganjam has not reported even one COVID case since the pandemic broke out in 2020, as per a report in India Today.
The village has 261 households and approximately 1234 people.
None of the villagers has complained of any COVID symptoms. The administration randomly tested 32 people in January and all tested negative.
¡°It is their perseverance that keeps them at home, and not a single villager step out of their home until something extremely important happens,¡± said Ganjam Collector Vijay Kulange.
¡°Since the beginning of the pandemic, we have been raising massive awareness among villagers to wear masks and follow social distancing norms as instructed by the administration,¡± said Trinath Behera, President of the Karanjara Village community.
Something to be proud of for the villagers. The fact that they have kept the disease out of the village is a testament to their resolve of staying COVID-free.
