The fire broke out at the Arpit Hotel around 435am. At least 25 fire tenders responded to a call at 430 am to conduct rescue operations. The entire hotel was booked by a family which was in Delhi for a function. The cause of the deadly fire is yet to be ascertained.
At least 17 people have been killed in a massive fire at a hotel in Delhi's Karol Bagh on Tuesday morning. The fire broke out at the Arpit Hotel around 4.35am. At least 25 fire tenders responded to a call at 4.30 am to conduct rescue operations. According to reports the entire hotel was booked by a family which was in Delhi for a function.
Those killed in the fire include a woman and child who tied to jump off the three-storied building after the fire broke out.

Fire Department officials said the blaze has been brought under control, but a search operation is still on for survivors. So far 17 people have been confirmed dead while dozens are admitted in hospital with injuries, at least five of them are said to be critical.

Even though the cause of the deadly fire is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected to be the result of a short circuit.
There are also allegation that wooden panels on the corridor which stopped people from evacuating on time.
