These States Make COVID Vaccination Must For Entry In Public Places: Here's The List
Amid the threat of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 the Karnataka government said that only fully vaccinated people will be allowed in public spaces like theatres and educational institutions among other places. Other states have also put similar measures in place.
Even when the government says that getting the Covid-19 vaccine was not mandatory, but voluntary, many states are making it compulsory for its people to be allowed entry into public places.
Karnataka
Amid the threat of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 the Karnataka government on Friday said that only fully vaccinated people will be allowed in public spaces like theatres and educational institutions among other places.
¡°The entry to malls, cinema halls/theatres shall be allowed only to persons who are vaccinated with two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine,¡± R Ashok, Karnataka¡¯s minister for Revenue said on Friday in Bengaluru.
The minister added that parents of children below 18 years will have to mandatorily be vaccinated in order for the latter to attend physical classes, he added.
The Covid-19 Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) had also suggested that the state make full vaccination mandatory for people to avail various benefits, including rations, water and electricity, from the government.
Tamil Nadu
In neighbouring Tamil Nadu, two districts - Madurai and Krishnagiri have made COVID-19 vaccination mandatory for people to enter malls, shopping complexes and other public places.
Under Section 71, clause 1 of the Tamil Nadu Public Health Act, 1939 which prohibits exposure of other persons to infection, unvaccinated people have been banned from entering fair price shops, commercial establishments, super markets, movie halls, wedding halls, petrol stations, private and government hospitals , private and government offices, schools, colleges sports stadiums, garment shops, hotels and lodges, tea shops, and banks.
The Erode corporation on Friday banned access to 16 places such as schools, colleges, hospitals, shopping malls and recreational centres for unvaccinated people in the city.
Kerala
In Kerala, the government had recently announced that unvaccinated people will not be eligible for free treatment if they get infected by COVID-19.
Maharashtra
In Maharashtra, full vaccination¡ª14 days since the second dose has been made mandatory to board any mode of public transport, not just trains, and for entry into most public places such as malls, shops, gatherings, ticketed or non-tickets events and any establishment where the public has the right to services.
It is already mandatory for the employees of these establishments to be fully vaccinated.
Delhi
Similar curbs are likely to be put in place in Delhi in the coming days.
The Delhi government is likely to propose to the DDMA to make the first dose of anti-Covid vaccine mandatory by December 15 for entry to public places and also incentivise people with cash prizes, discounts and lottery to encourage them in getting inoculated.
It may also be proposed that by March 31 next year getting fully vaccinated be made a must for entry to public places like malls and metro stations.
Rajasthan
Though it has not been officially announced yet, the Rajasthan government has also hinted at making various facilities unavailable for those who are not fully vaccinated.
