Our Delegation Is Going To Rio To Cheer Haryana Athletes, Minister Anil Vij Defends Rs 1 Crore Trip
Nine-member official delegation is led by Haryana sports minister Anil Vij. The ten-day stay of Vijs delegation is expected to cost around Rs 1 crore. Congress was quick to accuse the BJP of wasting public funds of the officials trip.
Amid the controversy over Sports Minister Vijay Goel in Rio after the organisers threatened to cancel his accreditation, another contingent of delegates is heading to witness the sporting extravaganza.

The nine-member official delegation is led by Haryana sports minister Anil Vij and the other members are his private secretary, two BJP MLAs, a media adviser to the chief minister, the additional chief secretary (sports), KK Khandelwal, his private secretary, and the joint director for sports, OP Sharma.
Among these men with the exception of Sharma, who is a former national hockey player, none have any expertise in sports.

The ten-day stay of Vij's delegation is expected to cost around Rs 1 crore, and what are they planning to do there?
"We have made our programme in such a manner that we can watch Haryana players performing. I am leading a delegation to Rio to encourage our players," Vij told ANI news agency.
