Prime Minister Narendra Modi On Thursday explained the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) digital payment system to French President Emmanuel Macron in Jaipur.
Macron, who is currently on a visit to India and will be the chief guest at the Republic Day ceremony to be held tomorrow, arrived in Jaipur, Rajasthan, this afternoon.
He visited heritage sites and joined a roadshow with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the India-France Strategic Partnership.

The Unified Payments Interface (UPI) is a technology that combines multiple banking services, facilitating smooth fund routing and merchant payments into a single mobile app.
Any participating bank can use it, and it supports "Peer-to-Peer" requests, allowing scheduled and convenient transactions. Users can transfer money around the clock through their mobile devices.
Macron interacted with artists at Amber fort
During his visit to the Amber fort, the French President was accompanied by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari.
At the fort, Macron posed for a picture with Jaishankar and Diya Kumari. As he walked around the Royal fort, appreciating its unique architecture, Macron was given an overview of its historical significance.
He expressed admiration for Rajasthani painting and art and also interacted with artists at Amber Fort. Macron also took the time to meet school students who had gathered there.
PM Modi was chief guest at Bastille Day Parade in 2023
During the 14th Bastille Day Military parade hosted by President Emmanuel Macron last year, a distinctive camaraderie was evident as PM Modi strolled the red carpet, warmly greeted by Macron with a hug.
