Prime Minister Narendra Modi Launches 'Mythbuster' Social Media Campaign In Support Of CAA
The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party BJP has come up with a social media campaign to explain people about the Citizenship Amendment Act CAA. Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said the newly introduced CAA is meant to give refuge to persecuted refugees. The tweet also asked people to share content graphics and videos from the PMs NaMo app to show their support.
In wake of protests that seem endless now, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has come up with a social media campaign to explain people about the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said the newly introduced CAA is meant to give refuge to persecuted refugees and launch a social media campaign in support of the contentious new legislation.
Earlier, the BJP had launched a social media campaign to ¡°bust myths¡± around the new law.
The Prime Minister, in a tweet, asserted that the CAA does not take away anyone's citizenship. "#IndiaSupportsCAA because CAA is about giving citizenship to persecuted refugees & not about taking anyone¡¯s citizenship away. Check out this hashtag in Your Voice section of Volunteer module on NaMo App for content, graphics, videos & more. Share & show your support for CAA," he tweeted.
The tweet also asked people to share content, graphics and videos from the PM¡¯s NaMo app to show their support for the law, that has triggered protests across the country.

The BJP has also launched a social media campaign "Spread Facts Not Myth", in support of CAA. In a series of tweets, the party addressed numerous issues pertaining to the new legislation.

CAA does not dilute the sanctity of Assam Accord as far as the cut-off date detection/deportation of illegal migrants is concerned. #IndiaSupportsCAA pic.twitter.com/lAidh1f98r
It also dismissed speculations that the CAA dilutes the 1985 Assam Accord, which aims to protect the Assamese culture, economic and political rights.
"No provision of Article 371 would be violated," the party tweeted.
