Spraying Water By Chopper Might Fix Delhi's Smog. But Smog Isn't Letting Choppers Take Off

Pawan Hans which had agreed to supply the choppers for the job has been unable to begin the flights due to poor visibility. The Delhi government is using fire service and MCD water carriers to carry out sprinkling.
As ironic as it may sound, this is true, the Delhi government's proposal to use helicopters to sprinkle water to bring down the alarming smog situation in the national capital has failed to take off.

This is because, Pawan Hans which had agreed to supply the choppers for the job has been unable to begin the flights due to poor visibility caused by the smog.
¡°Right now, with the prevailing smog, it is not possible for the helicopters to carry out operations. We have communicated the same to the Delhi government,¡± Pawan Hans CMD B P Sharma, told The Indian Express.

With rains still elusive and the windspeed yet to pick up, the Aam Aadmi Party government had mooted the idea as a temporary solution to battle the deadly smog.
Even though the Arvind Kejriwal government had sought the help of the central government, it did not entertain the idea, due to flight restrictions put in place in parts of Delhi like the high-security Lutyens area other than Vasant Kunj and Dwarka which are descending zones for civilian aircraft.
