Sreedhanya Suresh, 1st Person From Kerala's Tribal Community In Wayanad To Clear UPSC, Is An Inspiration
The 22-year-old became the first tribal girl from the district to clear the civil service examinations.
Sky's the limit to achieve one¡¯s goals when a person decides to burn the midnight oil. No social taboos or stereotypes can hamper the growth of a hardworking person. The same can be said for Sreedhanya Suresh from Kerala¡¯s Wayanad district.
The 22-year-old became the first tribal girl from the district to clear the civil service examinations. She secured the 410th rank in the examination whose results were declared on April 05 (Friday) on the official website.
Speaking to the media, Sreedhanya said that she belonged to the most backward district in the state. She added that though, there were quite many tribals living in the state, there were no tribal IAS officers from Wayanad. She hoped that her selection would inspire and motivate future generations also to overcome the hurdles.

Sreedhanya is the daughter of Suresh and Kamala of the Ambalakkolly tribal settlement at Achooranam, near Pozhuthana in the district. While her father is a daily wage worker, her mother works under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act.
Her mother told IANS that they made sure there was no barrier in her path to success. They are finally happy that her hard-work has been rewarded.
Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan was among the first politicians to congratulate the 22-year-old.

"Sreedhanya fought the social backwardness and passed the civil services exam with flying colours. Her achievement will inspire other students in the future," he wrote in his Facebook post.
Sreedhanya completed her graduation and postgraduation in Zoology. While she did her graduation from St. Joseph¡¯s College, Devagiri, Kozhikode, she did her post graduation in Applied Zoology at the University of Calicut, The Hindu reported.

She opted for Malayalam literature as her optional subject for Mains and received training from Fortune IAS Academy, Thiruvananthapuram. She informed Hindu that the current Kozhikode collector Sreeram Sambasiva Rao motivated her to attend the Civil services exam.

Rajasthan's Kanishak Kataria has topped the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exam, announced on Friday. While Kataria has topped the exams, Akshat Jain from Rajasthan and Junaid Ahmad from Uttar Pradesh have ranked second and third respectively.
A total number of 759 candidates have been recommended for appointment in Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service, Indian Police Service and Central Services.
