'Stay vigilant, avoid unnecessary travel', India tells citizens in Israel amid fears of all-out war in Middle-East
Apart from the approximately 85,000 Jews of Indian origin in Israel, close to 20,000 Indian nationals are estimated to be living in the country. This includes students, working professionals, caregivers, and construction workers.
India on Tuesday urged its citizens living in Israel to exercise caution as Iran launches its armed response to the recent killings of top Hezbollah and Hamas leaders. In an advisory, the Indian Embassy in Tel Aviv has advised its citizens to remain vigilant and follow safety protocols as instructed by local authorities.
Indian Embassy issues advisory
"Please exercise caution, avoid unnecessary travel within the country, and stay near safety shelters. The Embassy is closely monitoring the situation and is in regular contact with Israeli authorities to ensure the safety of all our nationals," the embassy said.
Helpline numbers of Indians
The Embassy also shared helpline numbers (+972-547520711, +972-543278392) and an email address (consi.telaviv@mea.gov.in) for Indians to seek help in case of any emergency.
"Those Indian nationals who have yet to register with the Embassy are requested to do so," the Indian Embassy further said in a social media post.

Rising tensions in the region
The multi-front conflict in the region that has been going on since 7 October 2023 escalated further on Tuesday, with Israel launching a ground operation in Lebanon. Later in the day, Iran responded by launching a large number of missiles into Israel.
Even as the world calls for peace and restraint, both sides have indicated that things could only get worse in the near future.
Indians in Israel
Apart from the approximately 85,000 Jews of Indian origin in Israel, close to 20,000 Indian nationals are estimated to be living in the country. This includes students, working professionals, caregivers, and construction workers.
In March this year, Patnibin Maxwell, a native of Kerala's Kollam district, was killed in a Hezbollah missile strike on Israel's northern border of Margaliot.
In 2021, Soumya Santosh, who hailed from Kerala's Idukki district and worked as a caregiver attending to an elderly woman at a house in southern Israel, was killed in a Hezbollah rocket attack.
