In a tragic incident, a 26-year-old Indian national was killed by suspected robbers at a store in the US state of Wisconsin. Praveen Kumar Gampa, a native of Rangareddy district of Telangana, was fatally shot on Wednesday inside a store in Milwaukee, where he worked part-time.
Returned to US two months ago
According to his family, Praveen was pursuing a Master's degree in Data Science at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He studied BTech in Hyderabad and left India in 2023. He was due to complete his studies in two months. He visited India in December 2024 and returned to the US in January this year.

What victim's family said
The family said they have not been informed about the circumstances leading to his death.
"Some friends said that Praveen's body was found with bullets," his cousin Arun told PTI.
"Some say Praveen was shot dead by unknown assailants at a store, but the cause of death was not known to the family," he said.
Arun said Praveen called his father in the early hours of Wednesday, but the latter could not take the call as he was sleeping.

The US authorities informed family members that the cause of death would be known after an autopsy.
