Later, they were assisted by the 'Drishti lifesavers', who shifted them to safe places.
"Today evening, due to heavy rains along the Goa-Karnataka border, the water levels at Dudhsagar waterfall increased significantly. This rise in water levels lead to the collapse of the bridge used for crossing and left over 40 visitors stranded. Drishti lifesavers stationed at the waterfall were quick to assist the individuals caught in the ordeal and assisted them to safer grounds," said an official statement by the PRO Drishti lifesavers.
CM congratulates the rescuers
CM Sawant congratulated the lifesaving agency for rescuing the tourists.
In a tweet, he said, "The River Lifesavers rescued around 40 guests stuck at Dudhsagar waterfall due to turning of crossing bridge where water level increased due to heavy rainfall. I thank and congratulate the River lifesavers for rescuing the tourists."

Tourists warned at Dudhsagar
Drishti Marine alerted people not to venture into the Dudhsagar waterfalls for the next few days due to heavy rains and rising water levels.
The picturesque Dudhsagar waterfall, situated on the Goa-Karnataka border, attracts a large number of tourists. Visits to this waterfall were stopped at the start of the monsoon season, but they were reopened for tourists earlier this week.

India's Meteorological department (IMD) attributed the heavy rainfall to a circulation over the east central Arabian Sea, off the coast of Karnataka.
The IMD had on Friday issued a warning for thunderstorms with lightning over North and South Goa up to October 16.
