Two More Farmers Die Of Cardiac Arrest At Tikri Border In Last 24 Hours; Toll Reaches 9
Two protesting farmers died of cardiac arrest at the Tikri-Bahadurgarh border. Farmers agree to resume talks with the Centre for the sixth round on December 29. They have set four conditions urging the government to stop the campaign launched by the entire state machinery to defame and malign the farmers movement.
As the protests against farm laws around borders points of Delhi have been on for over a month now, many protesting farmers have also lost their lives fighting the bitter cold.
Two protesting farmers - one from Punjab and another from Kaithal in Haryana - died of cardiac arrest at the Tikri-Bahadurgarh border in the past 24 hours, according to a report by The Tribune.
The deceased have been identified as 75-year-old Amrik Singh and 32-year-old Amarpal.
So far, nine farmers have lost their lives at Tikri border and seven of them either died of cardiac arrest or other ailments.
Farmers agree to resume talks
After a deadlock of close to 20 days, farmers have decided to resume talks with the Centre for the sixth round on December 29.
However, they have set four conditions urging the government to stop ¡°the campaign launched by the entire state machinery to defame and malign the farmers¡¯ movement.¡±
The last round of talks between all farmers¡¯ unions and the group of ministers led by agriculture minister Narendra Tomar, was held on December 5.
