Two Rare Tiger Cubs Born To 'Mixed Parents' In Delhi Zoo Die Within 10 Days
Two tiger cubs which were born in Delhi Zoo to &lsquomixed&rsquo pair after 27 years on August 15 has died within ten days the Zoo officials have said. The cubs were born to three-year-old white tigress Nirbhaya and Royal Bengal tiger Karan. According to doctors the male cub died of gastroenteritis while the female one had developed liver cirrhosis.

The first cub, a female died on August 18 while the second one, the male cub died on August 26.
The zoo had installed CCTV cameras to monitor the cubs and the mother and officials said they discovered something was wrong with one of the cubs.
¡°It was not looking as agile (as it should) and we tried our best, but the cub did not survive. It had developed a problem during birth. The second cub appears to be fine. Our focus is now on this cub and we are giving it all the care it needs to grow into an adult tiger,¡± a zoo official told The Times of India.

The Delhi Zoo currently has 12 tigers ¡ª seven white and five Royal Bengal tigers, last saw offspring from such a ¡°mixed¡± pair way back in 1991 when two cubs were born ¡ª one white and the other yellow.
