On a broader scale, India's susceptibility to landslides is increasingly recognized, with significant advancements in research and technology post the 2013 Kedarnath disaster, Indian Express reported.
A team from IIT-Madras has developed the high-resolution India Landslide Susceptibility Map (ILSM), indicating that 13.17% of the nation is at risk, with specific areas like Kerala being notably vulnerable.
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has also contributed with its "Landslide Atlas of India," identifying major landslide hotspots, including the Himalayas and Western Ghats.
