¡°A member of a WhatsApp group of nearly 250 animal lovers from Vijayawada and nearby places shared the news of the pup getting accidentally stuck between the walls of two houses. We visited the address and called the fire officials since we understood that one of the walls needed to be broken,¡± she said.
Sindhura has been working with Animal Caretakers. This group was formed by friends just over 2 years ago to rescue animals. It has saved over 1000 animals in Vijaywada and places nearby. Using donations, it fed 500 strays on weekdays and 1500 on weekends during the lockdown.
¡°The group, which we started with just three members¡ªI, Ravikeerthy (30) and Manikanta (26), has grown into a family of 150 animal lovers in the last 10 months. Two members work full-time as rescuers, and two more work part-time. The rest are volunteers and help us whenever they can,¡± she added.
The puppy being saved is just out of the many lives this organisation has saved since coming into effect.
Animal Caretakers¡¯ main focus is to rescue animals in distress. Monthly those involved attend 50-60 such cases. These individuals also respond to cases of animal cruelty and help in the adoption of strays.
Sindhura was the saviour for the puppy just as she and others have been for several animals till now.
