But everything has its limits and this woman from England crossed it - and gained herself the title for being the "world's most jealous woman."

Her claim to fame? Making her husband take a lie detector test every time he returned home, among other methods fueling her insecurity.

52-year-old Debbi Wood's love story with her now-husband Steve began in 2011 on Facebook, through a mutual friend on Facebook.

Overcoming the obstacle of distance, the couple planned to move in together.

However, doubts arose for Debbi when she discovered that Steve had been involved with another woman around the time of their initial connection.

Despite Steve's explanation about the non-exclusive nature of their early interactions due to the distance, Debbi questioned his fidelity.

Resorting to extreme measures, she installed child-proof filters on his laptop, scrutinised his emails, bank accounts, and phone.

Debbi's actions escalated when she opted to purchase an online lie detector test to administer to Steve before he left the house, convinced that it was the only way to validate his loyalty.

Despite their challenges, Steve, her husband, expresses love for Debbi and emphasises their joint effort to address their issues. He states, "... a bit of jealousy here and there won＊t change that," as shared with Your Tango.

Morbid jealousy

Clarity emerged as Debbi received a diagnosis of Othello Syndrome, shedding light on the underlying reasons behind her behavior.

Also known as morbid jealousy, Othello Syndrome involves irrational and obsessive jealousy directed towards a romantic partner.

Individuals with this syndrome often harbor unfounded suspicions of their partner's infidelity, leading to attempts at control, manipulation, or harm.

The condition is named after Shakespeare's play "Othello" which explores themes of jealousy and betrayal.

Debbi, who also struggles with bipolar and body dysmorphic disorders, started anti-anxiety medication after her diagnosis in September 2013.
