Now Haryana Khap Joins The Chorus Of 'Boycotts Chinese Products' This Diwali

While the call for the boycott of Chinese goods this Diwali getting louder, Haryana Khaps, have now decided to boycott Chinese products in their respective jurisdictions. Sangwan Khap, mainly dominating in Charkhi Dadri, and Bhiwani regions of Haryana on Monday announced that it will boycott the Chinese products in its jurisdiction of 40 odd villages and would request people living in these villages not to buy Chinese products this Diwali.

"The way China has been supporting Pakistan at international level including the UN, India shouldn't reconsider its strategy towards it. China recently had opposed our bid in NSG and boycotting Chinese products is least an Indian can do to teach China a lesson. Today's world is driven by business and if we boycott their product, it's surely going impact in a great way," said Col (retd) Risal Singh, Khap Pradhan of Core Committee of Sangwan Khap.

The decision was taken on Monday when the core committee held a meeting in Charkhi Dadri and unanimously decided to boycott Chinese products this Diwali.

The call for boycott has been gaining ground ever since China had opposed India's bid in NSG and it further got fueled when China against vetoed India's move to declare Jaish-e-Muhammad Terrorist Masood Azhar, a terrorist in UN.

Although Khaps have lost considerable ground in last one and half decade owing to their age old narratives and opinions which the developing Haryana society don't find relative anymore. But their political significance still matters and when this decision is taken amid the swelling sense of nationalism, it ought to impact to sale of Chinese products in that particular region.

"I request other Khaps to boycott Chinese products in their respective jurisdictions as it wouldn't only teaching the overtly expressive China a lesson, but would also help local Indian manufactures of these products. I know it's a small decision and is unlikely to impact in a big way, but if all Khaps decide to follow this in Haryana, then it's destined to become quite lethal for sale of Chinese goods. I hope Haryana would inspire people in other states to do the same," said Umed Singh Sangwan, another Khap leader.

Haryana roughly has over 60 big and small Khaps and if Sangwan Khap's decision inspires other Khaps, it can become a serious threat for the sale of Chinese products in various towns and villages of Haryana, if not the big cities like Gurgaon, where Khaps have limited presence.
