Age is just a number and James Anderson is proving it true quite a lot in recent days. The 40-year-old is back at the top and has taken back the World No. 1 spot in the latest ICC Test bowling rankings, as per TOI.
This is the sixth time ever that Anderson has taken the No. 1 spot.
At 40 years and 207 days, Anderson is the oldest player to top the Test rankings. The veteran pacer displaced Pat Cummins from the top spot after 4 long years.
Anderson has the most Test scalps by a pacer and was instrumental in England's 267-run win vs New Zealand in the first Test. England have now won 10 out of their last 11 Tests.
His seven wickets in the match took his wicket tally to 682.
Anderson has taken 202 wickets in 56 Tests at an average of 20.56 since turning 35. The man is just getting better with age, like fine wine.
Before this, the oldest player to top the ICC Test rankings was Clarrie Grimmett in 1936, an Aussie leggie.

They are now the most lethal bowling partnership in Test history with their combined haul of 1009 wickets. It took them past 1001 by Glenn McGrath and Shane Warne.
