Phogat was nearly 100 grams over the permissible limit. She could easily have shed that weight.
Is this a conspiracy by someone to remove her from the tournament?#?????_????? #wrestling pic.twitter.com/hZl8vFjOSt
This is a conspiracy. There's no way I can believe she's being Disqualified just for being overweight.

Why was Vinesh Phogat disqualified?
"It is with regret that the Indian contingent shares news of the disqualification of Vinesh Phogat from the Women¡¯s Wrestling 50kg class. Despite the best efforts by the team through the night, she weighed in a few grams over 50kg this morning. No further comments will be made by the contingent at this time," the statement by the Indian Olympic Association read.
Reports indicate that Phogat, who had undergone surgery for a ligament tear in August 2023 and had subsequently gained weight, managed to reduce her weight to compete in the 50kg category. Initially, she had been advised to compete in the 53kg category.
With Phogat's disqualification, there will be no silver medal awarded, and according to United World Wrestling (UWW) rules, Phogat will be placed last.
Meanwhile, PM Narendra Modi has posted on X, hoping for her to "come back stronger."
