IPL 2024: During Monday's match against LSG, Dhoni surprised everyone by expressing displeasure when the camera focused on him instead of the phenomenal partnership between CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shivam Dube.
IPL 2024: In a thrilling match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) faced off against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the ongoing IPL 2024. The crowd, as expected, was electrifying, especially when it came to their beloved former captain, MS Dhoni. During the season opener, a unique IPL stat introduced by broadcaster Star Sports revealed that the decibel level of the spectators peaked when Dhoni entered the ground ahead of the toss.
Throughout CSK matches, the cameramen were keenly aware of the crowd's adoration for Dhoni. They often panned to him in the dressing room during batting innings, sending the crowd into a frenzy.

However, in a surprising turn of events during Monday's match against LSG, Dhoni expressed his displeasure when the camera focused on him during a phenomenal partnership between CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shivam Dube. He threatened the cameraperson with the water bottle in his hand before camera was back focussing on the match proceedings.
In a historic feat for CSK, Gaikwad became the first captain to notch a century in IPL history, smashing an unbeaten 108 off 60 balls. Dube joined the onslaught, blasting a 22-ball 50, contributing to his impressive 66 runs.
Their partnership of 104 runs propelled the home team to a commanding total of 210 for four against LSG. This formidable collaboration ranks as the third-highest fourth-wicket partnership for CSK in IPL history, following Dhoni and S Badrinath's 109* in 2010, and Dhoni and Mike Hussey's 108* in 2014.
Amidst the electrifying atmosphere, Dhoni emerged to the delight of the roaring CSK fans, taking the crease with just two balls remaining. Gaikwad tactfully put him on strike for the final delivery, and with a characteristic shuffle across the crease, Dhoni expertly guided Marcus Stoins' fuller delivery through deep mid-wicket for a boundary, sealing the innings with flair.
