Dhoni's decision comes a day ahead of the high-stakes opening match of IPL 2024 between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Under Dhoni's captaincy, CSK clinched an impressive five IPL titles, solidifying their position as one of the most dominant franchises in the league.

CSK's new captain Ruturaj: key player takes charge
Born in 1997, Ruturaj made his debut in the IPL format in 2020, and quickly made a strong impression.
Gaikwad, who was retained by CSK in the 2022 edition for Rs 6 crore, has showcased remarkable talent since his IPL debut, boasting an average of 39.07 and a strike rate of 135.52.
With 52 matches under his belt since joining Chennai Super Kings in 2019, Gaikwad has proven himself as an integral part of the team's lineup, making him a natural choice for captaincy.
Gaikwad's appointment marks a significant milestone in his career as he gears up to lead the Super Kings in the TATA IPL 2024. The Pune-based youngster also participated in the pre-captains photoshoot, where he met with other team skippers.
