Sania, revered as India's greatest female tennis player, and Shami, a top pace bowler who played a pivotal role in India's journey to the final of the ODI World Cup 2023, were rumoured to be tying the knot.
Sania Mirza and Mohammed Shami, two celebrated Indian athletes, have recently been caught up in wedding rumours. Sania, revered as India's greatest female tennis player, and Shami, a top pace bowler who played a pivotal role in India's journey to the final of the ODI World Cup 2023, were rumoured to be tying the knot. However, these speculations have been firmly denied.
Imran Mirza, Sania's father, addressed the rumours in a statement to NDTV, saying, "This is all rubbish. She has not even met him." Both athletes have experienced significant changes in their personal lives recently. Sania divorced Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik earlier this year, and Shami is estranged from his wife, Hasin Jahan.
Sania Mirza recently undertook the sacred pilgrimage to Hajj, five months after her publicized split from Shoaib Malik. Having retired from professional tennis, Sania was recently engaged as a pundit for the prestigious French Open 2024. She shared her reflections on this new chapter in a social media post: "As I prepare for this transformative experience, I humbly ask for your forgiveness for any wrongdoings and shortcomings."
Sania also conveyed her hope that her prayers would be accepted and that she would be guided on this spiritual journey. She wrote, "I am deeply fortunate and feel immensely grateful. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers as I embark on this journey of a lifetime. I hope to come back as a better human being with a humble heart and stronger Imaan."

Discussing her successful partnership with Martina Hingis in 2015-16, she remarked, "I think all of the women sitting on this couch can understand this...when you hit a streak (winning back-to-back), athletes like to call it being 'In the zone'... Honestly, I think that's the best way I can describe what Martina and I had for those six months."
