Mbappe Making a Case to Become World's Best: Can He Overtake Haaland?

Kylian Mbapp¨¦ has been making a case for himself as the next-best player in the world. The French forward, who plays for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in Ligue 1, has been in scintillating form for both club and country. However, one question remains: can he overtake Borussia Dortmund's Erling Haaland as the world's best player despite playing in a less competitive league?

Mbapp¨¦ has been a force to be reckoned with since his debut for Monaco in 2016. He has won multiple individual awards, including the Ligue 1 Player of the Year and the Kopa Trophy (the best young player in the world). On the other hand, Haaland has taken the football world by storm since his arrival at Dortmund in January 2020. The Norwegian striker has scored an astonishing number of goals in a short period of time, earning him the reputation as one of the deadliest finishers in the game. His conversion rate is also among the best of the current generation and is on par with the greats of the game.

And after his move to Premier League giants Manchester City, he has already scored an eye-catching 21 goals in the EPL and has already broken many records. He has shown the world that he is as good a striker and has the ability and potential to perform at the highest level and the best league in the world. Due to his physicality, movement and striking he has been compared to the Great Dutch Striker Marco Van Basten and has been tipped to emulate Van Basten by winning the Ballon d'or.

Despite playing in different leagues, both players have shown that they have the ability to perform at the highest level. Ligue 1 is considered to be a less competitive league compared to the likes of the English Premier League, La Liga, and the Bundesliga, but it still is one of the top European leagues. And add to the fact that Mbapp¨¦ has consistently shown that he can perform against top-level competition in the Champions League. He has also performed well for the French national team, helping them win the 2018 World Cup.

So, can Mbapp¨¦ overtake Haaland as the world's best player? It's certainly possible. Both players are still young and have a lot of room for improvement. If Mbapp¨¦ can continue to perform at a high level and win more trophies with PSG and France, he could very well become the best player in the world.
