Rohit Sharma, who continued his form from the previous match against Australia, reached his third fifty of the tournament in just 35 balls, featuring six fours and two sixes. One of his sixes came off Liam Livingstone in the 11th over, following a humorous exchange with Suryakumar Yadav, caught on the stump mic. Suryakumar suggested that Livingstone might bowl a short-pitched delivery, to which Rohit responded, "Upar Daale Toh Deta Hu Na." This light-hearted moment quickly went viral on social media.
India posted a competitive total of 171/7 in their 20 overs. Besides the contributions from Rohit and Suryakumar, vice-captain Hardik Pandya added a quickfire 23 off 13 balls, including two sixes. Axar Patel (10) and Ravindra Jadeja (17*) also played vital roles, adding a 24-run partnership that helped boost India¡¯s score.
The Indian bowlers then showcased a stellar performance, bowling out England for 103 in 16.4 overs. The defending champions experienced a batting collapse following skipper Jos Buttler's dismissal. Buttler (23), Harry Brook (25), and Jofra Archer (21) were the only players to score above 20 runs, as the rest of the lineup faltered.
In a separate news, former Pakistan cricket team skipper Inzamam-ul-Haq accused Indian fast bowler Arshdeep Singh of "ball tampering" during the T20 World Cup 2024. Following India's victory over Australia in the Super 8, Inzamam claimed that Arshdeep¡¯s reverse swing was due to "serious work on the ball". Rohit Sharma dismissed these accusations, urging critics to "open their minds."

In response, Inzamam retorted on 24 News, stating, "Dimag to hum zarur apna khole lenge." He continued, "First thing is that he (Rohit) has admitted that it's happening. So it means what we observed is correct. Second thing, Rohit Sharma ko humein batane ki zarurat nahi padni chahiye ke reverse swing kis tarah hota hai, kitni dhoop mei hota hai, kis pitch pe hota hai. Jo sikhane wale hain unko nahi yeh cheez sikhaya karte. Tell him it's not right to talk these things."
