Uttarakhand avalanche: 32 rescued, CM Dhami directs swift action for remaining 25

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reviewed the ongoing relief and rescue operations following an avalanche near Mana village in Chamoli district. At the State Emergency Operations Center in Dehradun, he held a high-level meeting with officials, instructing them to expedite rescue efforts and ensure swift access to the affected site.
He directed the immediate activation of the nearest helipad and the use of drones and helicopters for monitoring. If necessary, the injured will be airlifted to AIIMS Rishikesh for treatment. District administration officials were asked to maintain coordination and provide all necessary assistance.
The Chief Minister emphasised that the safety of those trapped remains the government¡¯s top priority. Despite adverse weather conditions hampering helicopter deployment, ITBP, the Army, the Air Force, and local administration teams continue operations. Specialised ITBP teams are working on-site, and snow experts have been consulted.

So far, 32 people have been rescued, while efforts continue for the remaining 25. Ten injured individuals have been admitted to the ITBP hospital. Continuous snowfall is causing road blockages, but operations will accelerate as conditions improve.
The state government is in constant touch with the central government, including the Prime Minister¡¯s Office, the Home Minister, and the Defense Minister. Additional agencies will be deployed if required. Medical facilities at AIIMS Rishikesh, Srinagar Medical College, and Gopeshwar District Hospital have been prepared for emergency care.

In a virtual meeting with Chamoli District Magistrate Sandeep Tiwari, the Chief Minister was briefed that the avalanche occurred near a Border Roads Organization site, where laborers were working. Rescue teams from ITBP, NDRF, and SDRF were immediately dispatched.
Assuring full government support, Chief Minister Dhami reiterated that all agencies are working tirelessly to ensure the swift evacuation and safety of those affected. A helpline number has been issued for families seeking information.
