A perfect begging act that earns lakhs
Lu Jingang, a professional Chinese actor, has adopted the role of a beggar at the Qinming Shanghe Garden scenic area in China¡¯s Henan Province.
This location is a sprawling Song Dynasty historical and cultural theme park, serving as both a national scenic spot and a demonstration base for the national cultural industry.
Being a a tourist spot, Lu strategically chose it as his begging spot, recognising that tourists are more likely to contribute.
Covering his face with dirt and showing puppy eyes, Lu convincingly portrays a beggar and proves to be quite adept at it, successfully eliciting payments from tourists.
This talented actor reportedly earns a substantial income, reaching up to 70,000 yuan (more than Rs 8 lakh) per month, along with an abundance of food.
This lucrative endeavor stands in stark contrast to the average monthly salary in China, currently hovering around 29,000 yuan (approximately Rs 3 lakh). The disparity between Lu's earnings and the national average is indeed striking.
Passion behind begging
Lu Jingang opted for this unconventional career due to his passion for putting on a show and performing.
Begging, it turns out, provided him the opportunity to do just that, eliminating the need for auditions.
He didn't receive his family's support in the beginning, but they say that money makes all problems go away. And so, as the money came in, his family came around.
Years of portraying the same role has honed his 'character' to perfection. So much so that he discourages others from attempting to beg at Qinming Shanghe Garden, asserting that they would struggle to compete with his well-practiced performance.
Well, who wouldn't want to quit their stressful job and become a beggar!
