Touted as "the latest in the paid leave arms race" by Fortune magazine, it is more like an effort to make sure top companies retain their brightest employees. Deloitte plans to offer as long as 16 weeks of completely paid leave. The 16 weeks of paid leave includes maternity leave, paternity leave, elder care and aid for partners or family members. A spokesman for the company, while speaking to the Wall Street Journal, said that the new policy is just the company's way of realising that care-giving shouldn't be limited to just new parents. In fact, it affects a far broader range of employee experiences.
